Halloween birthday cake

Zachary had a costume birthday party and wanted a fun Halloween cake.  His mom wanted it to be a Halloween cake but keep it toned down from the more scary cakes that she had seen out there (ones with witches, etc.).  She also wanted to keep to the colors of the invitation.

Something simple

This past weekend I did a very simple cake for a little girl that wanted to do the decorating.  She wanted to add all of her favorite candy to the cake so I did a plain white cake that she could have artistic freedom with.

Jungle animal cake

My niece's 3rd birthday was this past weekend.  She is a fan of Dora and Diego so in honor of them she had a jungle party.

Raggedy Ann & Andy Cake

My husband and I are friends with a couple who have boy/girl twins.  The twins just turned one this weekend and had a Raggedy Ann & Andy birthday party.  Such a cute idea!!  The cupcakes were for everyone else to enjoy while the twins had their own smash cakes.

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse cake

My twin daughters turned 1 a couple of weeks ago.  We had a mickey mouse clubhouse birthday party.  I made the clubhouse out of rice krispies and covered it in fondant.  The slide is mesh wire shaped into the shape of a slide and covered in fondant.  The green bottom of course is cake.  I made two smash cakes and with the left over batter a few cupcakes.  The figures on the cake came from a book my older daughter has that lets you act out what you read.

Baby bootie cupcakes

A couple of ladies in my daughter's play group are soon to have new little ones.  We decided to have a mom's night out to celebrate their arrival.  Both ladies are having girls so I made some pink "boot" cupcakes as my daughter calls them.

Springfest cookies

Still haven't quite gotten the cookie thing down but looking for any excuse to practice them.  Our church put on a Springfest and the Sunday School classes were asked to make cookies.  I attempted to copy the logo and this is what I got.

Fishing basket cake

I made a cake for a man who's wife was throwing him a surprise birthday party at their cabin.  It is a fishing basket and was a lot of fun to make.

Graduation cake

This past Friday and a friend's son graduated High School.  Such a big accomplishment that definitely requires a  party.  Of course a party needs a cake.  I have to say I think the cake was really cute in person...hard to get a clean picture of it as it just looks messy in photographs.  As you can see the cake was for Hunter and he lives for this sport.  The dirt hills were each of his accomplishments...being a freshman, sophomore, junior, senior and finally graduating.

Tinkerbell Cake

My sweet little girl turned 3 this weekend and we had a Tinkerbell birthday party.  I think the cake turned out cute and don't really think the pictures do it justice...but I may be biased. ;)

Reid's Cowboy Birthday

My nephew's birthday was this weekend.  He turned 1.  (Seems like we were just down there for his birth).  My sister-in-law did an excellent job planning the party with no detail over looked.  He had a cowboy themed party and all the kids had a blast.  I had the great honor of being able to make his cake and I think it turned out really cute.

Happy St. Patty's Day

I am in the process of trying to find a cake recipe that taste great but will also support the weight of being a tiered cake.  One of my daughters was spending the morning with her Nana so I thought this would be a good time to try a new recipe.  I thought since St. Patrick's Day was this week I would do a simple fun decoration.  She loved it and within a minute of her arrival the first slice was cut.

My daughter got the play-doh cake making station for Christmas so since the weather has been nice we went outside and made some cakes (and cupcakes).  Very fun...and not quite as messy as making the real thing. ;)

Happy Valentine's Day

My daughter's Mother Morning Out program was planning on having their Valentine's party this past Thursday.  To much joy of all children...we got snow!!  Not much but as most to the area know one single snow flake will shut a city down.  So her program was closed this past Thursday because of the snow and since they were having Valentine's Day that day I made cookies intending to give cookies as her Valentine.  Well I had a bunch of cookies and no kids to pass them out to and since we got the announcement early enough I had fun decorating Valentine cookies with my daughter.  She is a lover of sprinkles and if she could have her way she would just sit and watch me while eating sprinkles straight from the jar.  So since I wouldn't allow that she would decorate a cookie with sprinkles and then eat the cookie.  (As bad as that sounds I promise I only gave her a few and they were the tiny cookies. The big ones she decorated were saved to be enjoyed another time ;).)   So here are the cookies.  I am not very experienced in the cookie baking world...this is only my second time making cookies to decorate and decorating them.  I was having a few issues with the pipping...I think the major problem that was going against me was that I was extremely tired.  So Happy Valentines Day to everyone!!

Congrats to Auburn University for their AUsome win last night!  These cupcakes were as sweet as winning the title of BCS National Champions!  War Eagle!
